The location of Hostal Abaaly couldn't be more convenient. Just steps from Mercado de San Miguel and only a five-minute walk from Sol metro station, it's perfect for exploring the heart of Madrid. The room was basic but very clean, which I appreciated. The shared bathrooms were also super clean, and it seemed like staff made a real effort to keep everything tidy. I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere despite being in the city center, a pleasant surprise on a Saturday night. On the other hand, my room felt a bit cramped without windows, hot at night. The key system for accessing the front door was tricky. I got locked out more than once, and the reception staff didn't speak much English.

The location is fantastic, just a couple blocks from a bustling market with inexpensive fine foods. The bathrooms are routinely cleaned and there are multiple facilities available nearby.
The soundproofing is basically non-existent was nice. The room size felt cramped, essentially just a bed and a fan, and finding the hostel can be a hassle due to its lack of clear signage. The shared bathrooms often had a lingering odor, and pest issues like cockroaches were a persistent nuisance.

Everything was perfect, affable staff, incredible location very close to centre of the city and the marker of San Miguel and the touristy cafes in Plaza Mayor. Our room was not only huge, but also spotless with balcony and fast internet, as example. Had a shower and hair dryers in the bathroom. Truly enjoyed the location to yellow airport shuttle...

The feeling of the room is quite nice and new. It is tidy, nice, bright and big enough. The staff is average nice. The speed of the wi-fi is quite good.
However, the pillow is too bad where makes the sleeping problem. The hostal is too hard to find where the address confused the information desk staff as well and it hides in a small avenue. In addition, it doesn't have banner outside the building where makes it harder to find for visitors. Finally, the receiption boys can't speak english at all!! It is very enconvenient for the visitors who is not speaking Spanish.

clean and multiple bathrooms.
The room I had was claustrophobic and had no window. Only stay here if you plan to be in the room as little as possible.

Right near that lively market and just a hop, skip from the Plaza Mayor! The rooms were cozy enough for what we needed, and y'all, the staff were as friendly as a neighbor bringing over a pie. Just wished our room had a window for some fresh air. It got a bit stuffy at night.

clean place , but tricky access
The staff were attentive throughout my stay. The cleanliness of the entire hotel stood out, especially in the common areas, where I enjoyed spending time after exploring the city. I appreciated the quiet environment, surprising given its central location. I found the shared bathrooms to be well-maintained, often a concern in hostels.
The key access system was frustrating, as it sometimes led to getting locked out.

Great location. Good value for the money. Free Internet.
My room was never cleaned during the 4 days I stayed there. If you want a towel you have to pay 1 euro to 'rent' it. I asked them to wake me up but they forgot to do it...

The receptionist was very pleasant. The bathroom facilities were clean. The location was very central and very good.
The room was just very basic. I had better experiences last year at los albergues when I did the Camino de Santiago... and much cheaper, of course, and I realise this was Madrid. Unfortunately, I had a grill-like opening up on the wall of my room, with just a light blind over it, so that noises of people coming and going could be plainly heard.
